GUM LOW TO LOW

Prolific multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and sought after collaborator Jay Watson released Out In The World, the fifth album under his GUM moniker, via Spinning Top back in June. After a period of reflection, Watson has shared some visuals to accompany what he now recognises as his favourite track from the album. Set over a "robot-latin" beat, generated by an EHX DRM15 doused in spring reverb, a bright, ascending synth sequence anchors the more surreal elements of 'Low To Low'. Moving through a series of unexpected interludes and chord changes, for the most part 'Low To Low' is an addictive slice of left-field synth pop. Veering off into a cosmic concoction of compressed acoustic drums and waining, fuzzed-out guitars, that bring the track to its conclusion, the sunny and subtly strange visuals by Watson and Pond partner-in-crime Jamie Terry serve as the perfect accompaniment to the tune. -Holly Mullineaux
